West Indies have announced their 14-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against India starting from August 8. They have made three changes to their ICC World Cup squad making John Campbell, Keemon Paul, and also Roston Chase.
The three-match series will get underway on August 8 at the Guyana National Arena adhered to by the second and also the third ODIs on August 11 and 14 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.
John Campbell returned to the squad in place of Darren Bravo that had a dreadful World Cup. Meanwhile, the selectors have included Chris Gayle who expressed his wish to play India in the home ground before announcing his final retired life to international cricket. Gayle that has 10,338 runs to his name needs 11 to leapfrog batting legend Brian Lara (10,348) to be the highest run-scorer for West Indies.
West Indies head coach Floyd Reifer claimed Campbell, Chase and also Paul included to add balance to the squad. He furthermore stated that they have a good mixture of young players and even seasoned cricketers to strike the perfect balance. Reifer also mentioned that they need to retrieve themselves from the World Cup distress in the upcoming series against India.
The team from the Caribbean Island had a depressing run in the event winning just two games against Pakistan in their opener as well as their last match versus Afghanistan. They had minutes of sparkle throughout the competition yet lacked uniformity and will look to recover against India at their home ground. West Indies battled mostly due to their batting and will surely need to secure that before they jump on against India.
