Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans, PSL 2021
Defending champions Karachi Kings take on last season’s initial table toppers, Multan Sultans, in the 2021 Pakistan Super League. The match takes place at Karachi’s National Stadium on February 27 and is scheduled to get underway at 14:00 local time.
Karachi is attempting to get back to winning ways after failing to defend 196/3 against Islamabad United’s last time. Sharjeel Khan smashed 105 and shared a 176-run partnership with Babar Azam (62) in a stunning innings last time out, but expensive bowling and fielding errors meant it counted for nothing as United got home to win by five wickets with five balls to spare.
Multan Sultans are going into this game on the back of a win, however. They opened the tournament with two defeats, but Muhammad Rizwan’s good form was finally rewarded last time out. He scored 76 from 49 balls in a convincing chase of 158 to beat Lahore Qalandars by seven wickets with 3.4 overs remaining.

Sohail Khan replaced Sohail Tanvir last time out and bowled well enough to keep his place for this one. Multan Sultans have kept faith with their batsmen so far, but time must be ticking for Chris Lynn, who has scored just two runs in three innings of PSL 2021 at the top of the order.
MS Key Players
- James Vince: Already starred with the bat once in this tournament to follow up Sydney Sixers’ outstanding form in the BBL.
- Mohammad Rizwan: Scored 12 fours on his way to 76 from 49 balls last time out, to follow 71 and 41 in the first two matches.

KK vs MS Head to Head
Including Karachi’s super-over win in the Qualifier play-off last season, Multan Sultans have won just one of the five completed matches between these two teams. That victory came after they bowled Karachi out for 134 in reply to 186/6 last season, but in the play-offs, it was Babar Azam’s 65 that proved key. Both teams scored 141, but Mohammad Amir kept his cool, despite bowling two wides, to defend 13/2 in the super over and earn the victory.

Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans Top Team Batsmen
Babar Azam is favorite to be Karachi Kings’ top team batsman, despite Sharjeel Khan’s century last time. Unsurprisingly, in-form Mohammad Rizwan is a favorite for Mulan Sultans.
Sharjeel Khan’s superb century made him Karachi’s top team batsman last time out, but Babar Azam’s half-century was a reminder of what he could. The Pakistan captain remains the favorite to be the Kings’ top team batsman. Mohammad Rizwan is a favorite for Multan Sultans, which is no surprise given his excellent form. James Vince arrived at the tournament in fine form and looked a better option than out-of-form Chris Lynn at the very least.
Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans Top Team Bowlers
Mohammad Amir is favorite to be Karachi’s top team bowler, while Shahnawaz Dhani’s recent wickets mean his price has fallen too, for Multan Sultans.
Though similar to Arshad Iqbal, Mohammad Amir still has a greater reputation and will be keen to get his wicket to count up. He remains a favorite to be Karachi’s top team bowler. The bookmakers are split on who to pick as the Sultans’ favorite, but Shahnawaz Dhani’s recent wickets could mean he would be a great pick. Carlos Brathwaite has bowled more useful than others.

Karachi Kings are favorites to win this match and get straight back to winning ways, and they certainly have something to prove after a poor bowling display last time out.
