Benjamin Cutting

Benjamin Cutting

Despite battling several injuries during his career, Ben Cutting has been a consistent performer for Queensland for several years.  He was the leading wicket-taker in Shield cricket in 2010-11, which put him on the cusp on his Test debut, but he had to settle with being named 12th man for the Gabba Test against New Zealand.  He finally made his first international appearances in January 2013, enjoying mixed success in limited overs matches against Sri Lanka.  A tall right-arm bowler whose bouncer is deceptively fast, Cutting has also developed into a dangerous lower-order batsman.  His maiden first class century – 109 off just 78 balls against South Australia – was followed up by a brutal innings of 98 not out from 48 balls in a one-day match against Victoria in 2013. Cutting played a key role as Sunrisers Hyderabad claimed victory in the Indian Premier League final in May, 2016. Cutting contributed an unbeaten 39 off 15 deliveries and collected 2-35 with the ball, including the key scalp of Chris Gayle, in his side’s win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Cutting is also a key member of the Brisbane Heat in the BBL.

Standing 192cm, Cutting led the Bupa Sheffield Shield wicket-takers list in 2009-10 with 43 wickets at 23.91, making his first Australia squad later that year.
