IPL 2021 Auction: The IPL Auctions are as lucrative and enticing to the fans as much as the game itself. The auction of 2021 is just a few days away, and franchises will have their permutations and combinations in place by now.
With all the buzz of the upcoming auctions looming around us, we roll-out the 5 most anticipated players who expected to be picked up by Delhi Capital on February 18th in Chennai and whose auction results will be most awaited.
Alex Carey is one of the best wicket-keepers in the world right now in white-ball cricket. He is a pretty aggressive batsman who has a wide range of shots. It might be surprising for a few because Carey was there in the Capitals’ squad last season. They have released him ahead of the 2021 auctions.
Having released Sandeep Lamichhane ahead of this year’s auction, the Capitals could use a spinner but might not want to fill an overseas slot. Chawla would be a sensible bid in that regard, he is a proven IPL performer. He could be an excellent alternative to Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin, giving the side a formidable trio of spin bowling options.
A strong performer in the domestic circuit, Rajpoot had a forgettable IPL 2020 and was thus released by the Rajasthan Royals. However, he is a decent player to have either as a squad option or someone who can plug an end while Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada wreak havoc on the opposition.
Having released Mohit Sharma and Tushar Deshpande, there is a need for domestic pace bowlers. The experienced Umesh fits the bill. He has struggled in recent seasons during the tournament, but he has won the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders and is a formidable opponent when on the song. At the very least, he is an excellent back-up option to have.
Despite a runner-up finish, Delhi, on several occasions, struggled to discover the right balance of players in their team this session. This was a problem that got significantly aggravated towards the mid-phase of their campaign when Rishabh pant injured himself and had to sit out for a few games.
