Pakistani start Batsman and limited-overs team Captain Babar Azam likes to take on challenges, and this has assisted him in succeeding in his career. He has shouldered the burden of scoring runs for Pakistan across formats with ease. As a result, he is compared with the likes of one of the finest cricketers of the generation Virat Kohli.
His success in international cricket has flourished for him with his board further appointing him as the captain of the limited-overs side Azam earned his ODI cap in 2015. He was always relentless towards it as he did not shy away from challenges as a youngster. While comparisons are inevitable, Babar Azam has given the Virat Kohli debate a new turn.
Babar Azam: I don’t want to be compared with Virat Kohli, compare me with one of the Pakistani legends.
Babar Azam has scored at an average of 45 in the longest format and over 50 in the limited-overs, which states a lot about his batting. Putting a full-stop to the Virat Kohli comparison, he wants people to compare him with one of the Pakistan legends among Javed Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf, or Younis Khan.
“I don’t want to be compared with Virat Kohli. It would be better if people compare me with one of the Pakistani legends like Javed Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf or Younis Khan,” Babar said while speaking to Pakistan media from Worcestershire on Thursday, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan is scheduled to resume its cricket season in England and has shown willingness to send their squad for the Test and T20I series starting in July. The three-Test series against England is slated to get underway from July 30 with the final match to conclude on August 24.
